DENVER—After months of fixing leaking pipes that delayed the opening of Xcel Energy’s new coal-fired plant in Pueblo, the company now says it hopes to fire up the plant March 24.
Xcel told state regulators that they’re waiting for a part to fix a water pump that was damaged earlier this month.
The $1 billion, 750-megawatt Comanche 3 unit was originally scheduled to go on line in November. Xcel spokesman Mark Stutz said there still could be more delays.
