BOULDER — A former child TV star who was arrested in December on suspicion of hitting his friend in the face with a stool and was released on bond, was arrested again in court this morning on accusations that he violated the conditions of his bond by testing positive for marijuana.
Brian Bonsall, 28, who faces third-degree assault charges in connection with the December incident and failure-to-appear charges in connection with a 2007 assault on his girlfriend, pleaded not guilty to those allegations in court this morning.
A Boulder County District Court judge set Bonsall’s case for trial June 14, and then revoked his bond after deputy district attorney Amy Okubo said he tested positive for marijuana in one urine test and had several other diluted urine tests.
Okubo said Bonsall has applied for a medical marijuana license, although she hasn’t seen that he’s been approved or that he has a medical marijuana card.
Regardless, she said, the conditions of his bond were “no drugs.”
Bonsall’s public defender, Yasmin Forouzandeh, said Bonsall applied for a medical marijuana license after doctors found that – because of severe head injuries he’s suffered – he’s a candidate for medical marijuana.
