Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper confessed Wednesday that he hasn’t always adhered to the city’s laws requiring snow to be shoveled from sidewalks in front of a home 24 hours after a storm.
The mayor said he recently hired a neighbor’s kid to take care of the problem and provide regular snow shoveling.
The subject came up during the mayor’s monthly appearance with radio talk-show host Mike Rosen. A caller told the mayor she has noticed a snow-slicked sidewalk in front of the mayor’s home in Park Hill on several occasions.
The mayor said some neighbors have actually put notes under his front door telling him that just because he’s mayor doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to shovel snow too.
He said he has been negligent a few times because he has been out of town or working long hours.
