TIMNATH, Colo.—A dinosaur sculpted from antique farm machinery has been demolished by a car after standing for 20 years as a northern Colorado landmark.

The state patrol says a car veered off an access road beside Interstate 25 Tuesday and crashed into the sculpture.

The patrol says the driver, 26-year-old Kacie Tomlinson of Windsor, suffered minor injuries and was issued a summons alleging driving under the influence.

Jim Swets, son of sculptor Bill Swets, says he doubts the sculpture can be salvaged.

It carried a sign pointing travelers to collection of more than 100 of Bill Swets’ whimsical sculptures.

The future of the collection is in doubt because of a bridge project and because the family says it may sell the land.

The town of Timnath has purchased three of the sculptures and leased others.
