A toddler who died in a single-car crash and her father, the injured driver, have been identified.
Two-year-old Makayla Scott died Wednesday from injuries suffered in a crash on Tuesday in Lakewood, police said.
Her father, Clint Scott, 28, remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened Tuesday night at the intersection of West Dartmouth Place and South Garrison Street, said Steve Davis, a spokesman with the Lakewood Police Department.
Investigators said Scott’s 2002 Pontiac Firebird slid on a sheet of ice and hit a tree, wrapping around it.
Makayla was buckled in a car seat in the back of the Firebird.
When police and firefighters initially arrived the girl was “unresponsive,” but she was revived and taken to a local hospital, Davis said.
The girl and her father both had to be cut out of the mangled car.
The accident remains under investigation.
