COLORADO SPRINGS — Lawyers say they are close to reaching a settlement with the mother of a 2-year-old girl who died in foster care.
Alize Vick died in October after prosecutors said she was thrown 5 feet across a living room by her foster mother, Jules Lynn Cuneo, 36. Cuneo was convicted last month of child abuse resulting in death.
The child’s mother sued El Paso County in federal court, alleging that social workers ignored signs of abuse. She claims those signs included an anonymous letter and tape recording made by a neighbor.
