SAN DIEGO — A registered sex offender was arrested Sunday in the disappearance of a teenager missing for three days after going for a run in a park.
The arrest came after about 1,400 volunteers scoured Rancho Bernardo Community Park for 17-year-old Chelsea King over the weekend, joining about 120 law enforcement personnel, officials said.
Investigators found evidence that led to the arrest of 30- year-old John Albert Gardner, San Diego County Sheriff William Gore said. Investigators also believe Gardner may be tied to a Dec. 27 assault in the park on a female jogger from Colorado Springs, Gore said.
