DENVER—A man accused of misleading people with a legal aid company has been ordered to pay $238,000 in restitution and $100,000 in civil penalties.

The state Attorney General’s Office said a Denver judge entered the order Thursday against Daniel Ketelsen. The state sued Ketelsen last year, saying he lied to people when the told them that his Broomfield-based Legal Aid was a state-subsidized organization that was licensed to give legal services and advice.

Prosecutors say Legal Aid’s employees gave advice to people even though they were not licensed attorneys.
