COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT — More federal money is coming to Colorado National Monument for trail improvements in what park officials are calling the trails’ biggest face-lift in decades.
Parks officials have announced an additional $27,000 in federal stimulus money, bringing the monument’s take from the stimulus since last year to more than $250,000.
The latest award of money will be used to rehabilitate Monument Canyon Trail, the second-most-popular in the park.
Superintendent Joan Anzelmo said the stimulus trail work is the biggest effort to restore trails in decades. All the work must be completed by Sept. 30.
