LINCOLN, Neb.—Alyssa Kamphaus scored 28 points and Seward completed another dominant run through the Class B ranks Saturday with a 68-45 victory over Gretna in the girls state finals.
The Bluejays (25-0) won their second-straight state title and have won 50 games in a row since losing in districts in 2008.
The 6-foot-4 Kamphaus made 14 of 18 shots from the field. On three of her misses, she put back her own rebound for a basket. The other miss—a whimsical 3-point try that drew nothing but air—came just before she went to the bench to rousing cheers with 1:41 left.
Seward’s average winning margin this season was 36 points, and the Bluejays won their three state tournament games by 20, 23 and 23 points.
Emily Cady and Natasha Mueller added 10 points apiece for Seward.
Meghan Dennis led Gretna (22-4) with 10 points.
