BOULDER, Colo.—A man jailed on suspicion of sexual assault on a child in Boulder County has died of an apparent suicide.
The 40-year-old man was in a cell by himself. Boulder County Sheriff’s deputies say they had checked on the inmate 12 minutes before finding him unresponsive Wednesday.
Sheriff’s deputies tried to revive the man, whose name was not immediately released. He died at a nearby hospital.
Officials say there are no indications of foul play and it appears the inmate hanged himself.
He had been in protective custody at the jail since Feb. 24.
