To say Holy Family cheerleader Yaremi Jones has overcome a lot is an understatement.

The junior, who uses a wheelchair because of an auto accident at age 2, would rather have been on the basketball court for coach Ron Rossi’s champion Tigers.

“She asked me in eighth grade if she could play for me,” Rossi said. “But CHSAA laws don’t allow it.”

Last month, Jones became the first person who uses a wheelchair to compete at the cheerleading meet at the Denver Coliseum.
