BROOMFIELD, Colo.—The Broomfield City Council has approved a tax rebate deal aimed at persuading TransFirst Holdings to move hundreds of jobs to Broomfield.

A TransFirst executive said last week that company leaders still had to approve a move. The payment processing company had no immediate comment Monday.

If TransFirst moves its software development unit and a certain number of jobs to town, it would get a rebate of up to $48,244 over 10 years as the city returns half the use and personal property tax the company would pay in that time. The Camera newspaper reports that Broomfield still would net $57,994 in those 10 years.

TransFirst would have to have 450 employees in Broomfield by the end of 2010 and up to 525 by 2012.
