A 27-year-old Longmont woman turned herself in to police in connection with a baby who drowned in a bathtub.

Andromeda Ann Sosa was arrested Monday on suspicion of child abuse/neglect resulting in death, child abuse, and possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance.

On Feb. 25, 10-month-old Jeremiah Sosa, Andromeda’s nephew, was left unattended in a bathtub and was found dead.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office said the boy died from “asphyxia due to drowning.”

The coroner’s office ruled the death an accident.

Andromeda cared for the infant because his parents are both incarcerated in the Colorado Department of Corrections, said Cmdr. Tim Lewis, of the Longmont Police Department.

Investigators found a “small amount of cocaine” in “Andromeda’s possessions,” Lewis said.

She was not under the influence of cocaine or drugs when the incident happened.

“She must made some bad decisions at the time that led to the tragic loss of life,” Lewis said.

Sosa has been released from the Boulder County Jail on $50,000 bail.
