LARAMIE — Coriann Wood led Brigham Young with 18 points and scored a late key free throw to help the Cougars beat Wyoming 67-63 on Thursday night in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
The Cougars led by 10 points at one point in the second half, but the Cowgirls (21-12) rallied to tie the game 60-60 with 1:31 remaining. Three free throws by BYU (23-9) sealed the outcome.
“It’s always difficult to come answer questions for the last time when it’s the end of the season,” Cowgirls coach Joe Legerski said. “The biggest thing I can say is: what a game. It was a tremendous effort by both teams and a great 40 minutes of basketball. I think the key to the game is that BYU had an answer every time we made a push.”
