A man in Colorado Springs followed text message exchanges to an apartment hoping to meet a woman, but was instead confronted by two men who robbed him, police said.
The incident happened late Thursday night and police have arrested two suspects in the case, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department blotter.
The victim told police he was lured to the Summit Creek Apartment Complex, near South Chelton Road and South Academy Boulevard by text messages and the promise of connecting with a woman he had met earlier.
But when he showed up at the apartment two men confronted him and “demanded” money, police said.
The two men took the victim to an ATM machine and “forced” him to make a withdrawal, police said.
They then took him back to the apartment and copied personal information including an identification card, “warning” him not to report the incident.
The robbers also stole a Visa card and an car GPS navigation system from the victim, police said.
After letting him leave, the man called police who went to the apartment and arrested two people – Amy Nugent, 25, and Mark Brascom, 30 – on suspicion of robbery.
The investigation is ongoing.
