Kiss and tell: Miranda Cosgrove, the 16-year-old star of Nickelodeon’s “iCarly,” couldn’t help but laugh Thursday when talking about a recent phone call she received.
The guy on the other end — an acquaintance — called Cosgrove to ask if her pop song “Kissin U,” which features the lyrics “No point even trying to fight this / It kinda feels like it’s love,” was written about him.
“It was kind of awkward for a second,” said Cosgrove while promoting the Quaker Chewy Afterschool Rocks campaign, which encourages participation in after-school activities.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s about you.’ Apparently he was very flattered and told his friends.”
Cosgrove was quick to point out that not all of the songs on her coming album, “Sparks Fly” (in stores April 27), are about guys — just “99 percent” of them.
But when she isn’t writing songs about her crushes, Cosgrove is filming “iCarly,” Nickelodeon’s top-rated live action series.
The Los Angeles native recently signed on for 26 more episodes in a deal that is reportedly worth somewhere in the low to mid-seven-figure range.
“My Dad wanted me to be finished in time for college,” Cosgrove said.
“I’m not sure after that. I suppose we could do more, but I’m not sure. College is important for me, and I’d love to get to be in movies.”
Cosgrove provides the voice of Margo, one of three orphan Girl Scouts adopted by Steve Carell’s character in the animated film “Despicable Me” (due in theaters July 9), and she says she is reading a lot of scripts.
She has her heart set on a certain type of movie, she says.
“I love the Judd Apatow movies,” she said. “They’re super funny.
