Police have locked down Belle Creek Charter School as they search for the last of several suspects who were involved in a home invasion nearby this morning.

Two or three suspects are already in custody, said Commerce City police Lt. Chuck Saunier. The suspects entered an occupied home about 10 blocks from the elementary school and a search is underway in a sparsely populated area near the Platte River.

Police believe the missing suspect is armed and that the home invasion may have involved drugs. “It doesn’t appear that there were any injuries.”

The home “is a pretty good distance to the school but we are still going to keep it locked down. We are just keeping everyone inside, no one enters, no one leaves,” Saunier said.

Two officers are at the school, located at 9290 E. 107th Ave., in Henderson, and the children are in no danger, Saunier said.

Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies, State Patrol troopers and Commerce City police are conducting a search. About 30 officers are involved.
