DENVER—Lawmakers investigating whether a lobbyist threatened a lawmaker have delayed additional testimony in the case.

The ethics committee had been set to take testimony Thursday but abruptly canceled the hearing. Sen. Mary Hodge said she couldn’t comment on why.

The delay means the committee won’t be able to report back to the Legislature on Friday on the complaint as planned.

Rep. Wes McKinley says lobbyist Nat Gorman shook his fist and “threatened to cut out my lying tongue” during an alleged confrontation over McKinley’s efforts to stop the sale of the Trinidad State Nursing Home.

Gorman denies making the threat and implied that another lawmaker who said he overheard—but didn’t see—an angry exchange between the two is lying.
