NEW ORLEANS — A Broomfield-based engineering firm denies it overbilled for its work to oversee the reconstruction of city buildings and infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Mayor Ray Nagin agreed.
In March, New Orleans’ Inspector General E.R. Quatrevaux said the flawed contract with MWH Americas Inc. had hurt the city’s recovery.
Quatrevaux said the city had “blindly paid MWH’s expenses” and that city employees and elected officials may have violated ethics laws by accepting gifts and meals from MWH.
Late Thursday, the city and MWH released responses strongly disagreeing with Quatrevaux’s findings.
