Colorado state treasurer Cary Kennedy officially kicked off the “2010 Great Colorado Payback” campaign today. The campaign will showcase $450 million worth of lost and forgotten property.

Officials say the 2010 list of nearly 80,000 people is added to the more than 1.5 million owners already listed on Colorado’s unclaimed property rolls.

“We had a 41 percent increase in the property we returned over the fiscal year before,” Kennedy said. “We’re already ahead of where we were last year at this time, and we still have three more months to go.”

Some of the items available include an $80,000 diamond ring, antique gold coins, old U.S. currency and a large silver bar that weighs more than 25 pounds.
