A 9-mile high-speed chase ended in a crash in Wyoming today and led to the arrest of a Colorado Springs man who police say kidnapped his wife and two children Thursday.

Al Johnson, 27, reportedly forced Jaime Johnson, 23, into a 1998 Cadillac. Today at about 3 p.m. near Casper a person following the sedan, who had seen news reports of the alleged kidnapping, called authorities.

Wyoming state troppers chased the Cadillac until it crashed into another vehicle. No one was seriously injured, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The couple’s 3-week-old infant and Johnson’s 8-year-old daughter from a previous relationship were both in the car.

Johnson faces a second-degree kidnapping charge in Colorado and traffic charges in Wyoming.
