Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. of Boulder has won a $5.5 million contract to design a satellite to measure ocean heat and height for the Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.
Called Geosat Follow-on 2, the satellite will be an upgrade from the original Geosat satellite that was launched in 1998. Ball will deliver the hardware and software and satellite platform for the satellite, which is scheduled to be launched in 2014.
