Re: Baked Ground Beef Sandwich, April 14
I grew up on a ranch in western Nebraska and found a recipe very much like this to experiment with. The summer I was 9, I cooked for the wheat harvest. Mom was in the hospital, and I got to fix untold gallons of iced tea, sandwiches, homemade cookies, Jellos, and for dinner, a hot meal packed and taken to the field. All this for 5-6 hungry men.
The picture for the Baked Ground Beef Sandwich tickled me. The good ol’ Pyrex square pan, in the terra cotta color so popular at that time. I have two of these from the ’50s, a weird mint/lime green. They are STILL my go-to pans for 8-inch square anything.
