CHICAGO — John Edwards’ mistress said the former presidential candidate’s wife didn’t know about their involvement until after he gave an interview to ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff admitting the affair.
“She didn’t know until after the interview,” Rielle Hunter told Oprah Winfrey about Elizabeth Edwards in quotes provided Wednesday by Harpo Productions.
Hunter’s interview is to air on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” at 4 p.m. today on KCNC-Channel 4. It is her first televised interview since Edwards first admitted in 2008 that he had had an affair with her. Edwards is the father of Hunter’s 2-year-old daughter, and he and Elizabeth Edwards are separated. The Associated Press
