GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—A 13-year-old boy accused of selling his father’s medical marijuana at his Colorado school was sentenced to 10 days in juvenile detention and probation as part of a plea deal.
The teenager pleaded guilty in March to possession of between 1 ounce and 8 ounces of marijuana, a less serious offense than the distribution felony he first faced. Authorities say the boy took his father’s medical marijuana and smoked it with two other students at his Glenwood Springs middle school.
Authorities say the boy also sold small amounts of marijuana to three students. The teenager is being given credit for four days served at a detention center and the remaining days in his sentence were suspended.
Prosecutors say the boy is a “nice kid” who made a mistake.
