The father of an Army captain from Evergreen says his son was acquitted Tuesday in Iraq of two charges of premeditated murder, but he was convicted on two counts of negligence in the deaths of civilians.

Capt. Carl Bjork was accused of ordering Iraqi officers to kill two civilians in 2006. The United States military referred one count of reckless endangerment and two counts of premeditated murder against Bjork.

Peter Bjork said his son could be sentenced to up to three years on each negligence conviction and an additional year for the reckless endangerment charge. Bjork is set to be sentenced today in Baghdad. 9News
