LAS VEGAS—UNLV’s athletic director has urged assistant football coach Ty Gregorak to resign.
Gregorak was arrested in Colorado for allegedly breaking into a bar bouncer’s car and taking a handgun and a wallet on May 1.
The bouncer told Boulder police his items were taken hours after he refused to allow the 31-year-old Gregorak to enter a bar because he appeared too intoxicated.
The bouncer told police Gregorak later went to his home to apologize and return his items. Formal charges may be announced Thursday in Boulder.
Athletic director Jim Livengood says Gregorak’s contract won’t be renewed when it expires June 30 and that the interests of the football program and athletic department have to come first.
Gregorak joined UNLV last year to work as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator after six years as linebackers coach at Montana.
