DENVER—Gov. Bill Ritter and former state economic chief Don Elliman have been honored for their work developing Colorado’s “new energy economy.”
The Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. recognized Ritter and Elliman, currently the state’s chief operating officer, for “outstanding efforts in economic development” during a ceremony Tuesday.
Ritter has focused on building what he calls a new energy economy by attracting renewable energy businesses to the Colorado and encouraging research and development. The business group says Ritter has signed nearly 50 clean-energy measures into law, which have helped create jobs and revive the state’s manufacturing sector.
The group also cited work by Ritter and Elliman to rewrite the state’s income tax code and change the incentive system to make Colorado more competitive.
