Frontier Airlines flight attendants have voted to join the Association of Flight Attendants-Communication Workers of America.
Results of the election, conducted by the National Mediation Board, were announced Thursday. It was the flight attendants’ sixth union attempt.
The board must certify the AFA- CWA as the bargaining representative for the company’s 945 flight attendants.
Two unions were on the ballot — the AFA-CWA and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Of 879 eligible voters, 456 chose AFA-CWA, 234 selected the IBT and 189 did not choose union representation.
“We will finally have a legally recognized voice to negotiate with management and gain protections that are specific to the needs of Frontier flight attendants,” Erika Schweitzer, the transitional AFA-CWA Frontier president, said in a statement.
Schweitzer said the flight attendants “look forward to negotiating a contract that will protect our interests and address our issues.”
