LOVELAND, Colo.—A bus service linking Longmont, Berthoud, Loveland and Fort Collins is slated to launch June 7.

The FLEX bus service would connect the northern Front Range to the Regional Transportation District’s Denver-area public transportation network.

It would cost $1.25 for a single ride, with service Monday through Saturday. FLEX plans to operate three buses powered by compressed natural gas.

Loveland, Longmont, Fort Collins, Larimer County, Boulder County and Berthoud are partners in the project. Loveland has secured $1.2 million in federal grant money to help cover costs.

Loveland public works director Keith Reester says the project expects a ridership of 24 passengers an hour in the first year.
