The Children’s Museum of Denver has appointed Mike Yankovich as its new organizational president and chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Yankovich, who has 15 years of experience in the museum field, is known as an advocate for innovative approaches to early childhood education and experience-based learning.
He has been with the Children’s Museum of Denver since 2003, serving in a number of capacities including director of education, vice president of guest experience and, now, CEO. He currently serves on the board of directors for Qualistar Early Learning and the board of advisors for the Denver Preschool Program.
“The board was unanimous in the decision to choose Mike Yankovich as the new president,” Deborah Wapensky, chair of the Museum’s board of directors, said in a statement released this morning. “With his visionary and passionate approach to early childhood education, Mike is well-prepared to usher the Children’s Museum of Denver into a new decade of growth and creativity.”
Yankovich said his focus remains on developing quality, interactive exhibits and educational programs.
“With the new Bubbles exhibit just opening, the museum serving more families than ever before, and our talented, dedicated staff continuing to provide one-of-a-kind educational experiences, the museum is just getting better and better,” he said.
The Children’s Museum of Denver, founded in 1973, is located at I-25 and 23rd Avenue in the Platte River Valley.
