Getting your player ready...

PARKER — The 71st Senior PGA Championship will begin Thursday at Colorado Golf Club without one area player. And it could be missing another.

Evergreen resident Craig Stadler, the 1982 Masters champion and 2004 Champions Tour player of the year, has withdrawn due to a bout with shingles.

Denver’s Mark Wiebe said he may have to pull out due to a bad back. Wiebe was diagnosed Monday with a ruptured disc and has received two injections. Wiebe hit balls on the practice range Wednesday and said his back felt stiff.

Wiebe said he likely would not decide whether to play until Thursday morning. He is scheduled to tee off for the first round at 8:45 a.m.

“It will be a ‘game day” decision,” Wiebe said.
