FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Roadside emission testing is coming to northern Colorado.

An expansion of vehicle emissions testing to parts of Weld and Larimer counties formally begins in November, but starting Tuesday, mobile units will conduct roadside tests on passing vehicles and note their license plates.

In most cases, drivers of vehicles that pass two RapidScreen tests at least 75 days before their registrations have to be renewed would get notices in the mail that they don’t have to visit a centralized emissions testing station to renew their registrations.

Christopher Dann of the state health department says four mobile units will rotate among various spots in Larimer and Weld counties.
