A climber was badly injured Sunday morning when a cornice broke, and he was swept down the snow field of the Hagerman Couloir, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department.
Mark Jansen, 27, of Denver, called for help on a cellphone, and Mountain Rescue Aspen reached his brother, identified as 32-year-old Timothy Jansen of Lenexa, Kan., who was airlifted to Aspen Valley Hospital and then to a Denver hospital.
