ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo.—Night road closures are being implemented at Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National park because of significant melting snow and erosion in construction areas.

The road opened for the season Friday but it closed at 10 p.m. Rocky Mountain National Park spokesman Kyle Patterson says the road reopened Sunday morning using a pilot car system.

The road is billed as the country’s highest continuously paved road. It climbs to 12,183 feet and connects the towns of Estes Park and Grand Lake.

Patteron says drivers should call a Trail Ridge Road phone number for information on closures at 970-586-1222.
