The Gold Hill fire eight miles northwest of Boulder, first spotted about 4 a.m. today, was contained by 6 a.m., according to the U.S. Forest Service.

John Bustos, spokesman for the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, said the fire, which was primarily in brush and grass, is suspected of having been “human-caused.” Additional investigation is being conducted, he said.

The fire was two miles northwest of the mountain town of Gold Hill.

Bustos said the fire was confined to six-tenths of an acre.

Five engines, one water tender and approximately 40 firefighters fought the fire. Agencies responding were the U.S. Forest Service, Gold Hill Fire Protection District, Four Mile Fire Protection District and the Sunshine Fire Protection District.

Bustos said no structures were threatened by the fire.

Firefighters will keep an eye on the area through Wednesday.
