ASPEN — The board of the Aspen Music Festival and School approved a two-year contract extension this week for president and chief executive Alan Fletcher.
Fletcher suffered a no-confidence vote in April from the faculty-dominated Music Associates of Aspen, one of two governing bodies.
Mike Murray, acting board chairman, said opinions vary, but many of the people who backed Fletcher believe he has done an excellent job in the face of a severe recession and lack of adequate board support.
