Streets and trails throughout Greeley and Windsor are closed today as the Cache La Poudre River continues to crest near or at flood stage due to high water fed by heavy rain and increased snow melt.

Authorities are waiting until the water recedes before beginning repairs and clean up, according to a press release from Greeley’s public works department. The National Weather Service issued a flood warning around 3 p.m. today effective until 6 a.m. Wednesday for Greeley.

Road closures in Greeley include 35th Avenue between F and O streets, from the intersection of 6th Avenue and 5th Street to the Poudre River, from 71st Avenue and Poudre River Ranch north to O Street and 83rd and 95th Avenues from C Street to O Street.

Along the Poudre River Trail in Greeley, the stretch from 25th to 35th Avenue, Rover Run Dog Park and from east of 59th Avenue beyond 71st Avenue are closed. Some of the trails damaged by flood and debri could take as many as 30 days to clean up, said public works.

In Windsor, areas on Colo 257 east to Kodak bridge, west of County Road 27 and west of County Road to Colo. 392 are closed.
