Ian Stewart went hitless in three at-bats Tuesday night, an all-too-common occurrence in recent weeks. Stewart month by month: .293 in April, .269 in May, .143 in June. He was hitting .301 on May 15 but has dropped to .260.

Todd Helton is liking the No. 2 spot in the Rockies’ order. He homered in the sixth inning off the Twins’ Carl Pavano, his eighth hit in 19 at- bats in the two hole. Helton has two homers this season, and neither has come in his accustomed No. 3 spot.
