MINNEAPOLIS—A pair of aces are squaring off on Thursday at Target Field.

The Colorado Rockies send phenom Ubaldo Jimenez (ooh-BALL’-doh Hih-men-ez) to mound to take on the Minnesota Twins and lefthander Francisco Liriano. First pitch is at 12:10 p.m.

Jimenez has been the talk of the major leagues this season. He is 12-1 with a microscopic 1.16 earned-run average and already has a no-hitter under his belt this season.

Liriano is enjoying a resurgent year after a couple of rough seasons following Tommy John surgery. Liriano is 6-3 with a 2.90 ERA and coming off an 11-strikeout performance against Atlanta.

Colorado manager Jim Tracy says it won’t be a good day to be a hitter if both pitchers are on their game.
