Lindsay McGetrick, 16, of Colorado Golf Club drained a 20-foot putt on the 18th hole Thursday to win the Colorado Women’s Golf Association’s Junior Match Play Championship at Thorncreek Golf Club, 1-up over Somin Lee of Heather Ridge Golf Club.

The match was all square going to the 18th, and Lee and McGetrick both put their drives in the fairway. Lee stuck her approach shot 6 feet from the hole, while McGetrick’s approach landed 20 feet away. McGetrick made her putt, and Lee missed her chance to send the match to extra holes.

At the CGA’s Senior Match Play Championship at Heritage Todd Creek, Robert Polk of Colorado Golf Club won two matches in his bid to defend his title. Polk will face Chuck Fisher of Riverdale G.C. in one semifinal today. Guy Mertz of Fox Hill and Sean Forey of Black Bear face off in the other.

DU hockey players bid for national team spots.

Four University of Denver players are among 44 players invited to take part in USA Hockey’s national junior evaluation camp this summer in Lake Placid, N.Y. Drew Shore and Nick Shore of Denver and incoming freshman Beau Bennett and Jason Zucker will audition for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2011 World Junior Championship.

Elliston to fight for 90-pound title.

Denver’s Melik Elliston, who fights out of the Salvation Army’s Red Shield gym in Denver, won a semifinal match at the USA Boxing National Championships in Camp Le- jeune, N.C. Elliston, 15, earned a 3-1 decision over Arkansas’ Lionel Tidwell in the 90-pound division. He will face Roscoe Hill of Spring, Texas, in today’s title bout.
