BOULDER, Colo.—The Federal Trade Commission has approved the sale of a Whole Foods store in Boulder to a group of natural product industry veterans, including a co-founder of the grocer Alfalfa’s.
The FTC on Friday approved Boulder-based A-M Holdings LLC acquiring the Whole Foods store at 1651 Broadway St., once the location of the first Alfalfa’s Market.
A-M Holdings officials have indicated they want to open a new Alfalfa’s on the property.
The store was among locations Whole Foods agreed to divest to resolve the FTC’s concerns over its merger with Boulder-based Wild Oats Markets Inc. The FTC had argued that the merger would harm competition and consumers in the natural products industry.
Wild Oats previously acquired Alfalfa’s Market.
