A man who was fatally shot during an argument in Denver on Tuesday was on the city’s crime stoppers “50 most wanted” list.
McConey Bronson—Lockett, 33, of Aurora, died after being shot in the upper stomach and chest, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
Bronson—Lockett was shot at about 6 p.m. Tuesday at 6767 E. 39th Ave., according to the Denver Police Department.
He was No. 15 on this year’s list and was wanted on suspicion of robbery, assault and illegal drugs.
Police said Bronson-Lockett was arguing with another man when he was shot. The victim was taken to University of Colorado Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As investigators processed the shooting scene, at an apartment complex, a man showed up and told them he was the assailant, police said.
The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Pernell Hines. He is being held at the Denver County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder.
Hines has been arrested several times prior to the shooting, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.
In 2008, Hines was sentenced to the Denver Jail on a parole violation. The length of the jail sentence was not clear. Previous arrests, according to records, included assault, menacing, trespassing and illegal drugs.
