When it comes to volunteerism, Coloradans lend a hand, according to the 2010 Volunteering in America report by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
The Colorado Governor’s Commission on Community Service on Thursday lauded the findings that Colorado had moved from 17th to 16th in the nation, and that Fort Collins ranked fourth and Boulder eighth for volunteerism among 75 mid-size cities. The report indicates that in Colorado, about 1.3 million people volunteered 161.9 million hours in 2009.
Lt. Gov. Barbara O’Brien, who heads the state commission that promotes volunteerism, praised the report in a statement.
