RENTON, Wash. — The Seattle Seahawks hired Loveland High School graduate and former San Francisco 49ers general manager Scot McCloughan as a senior personnel executive Tuesday.

McCloughan will assist new general manager John Schneider and vice president of football operations Will Lewis in building the Seahawks’ roster.

McCloughan spent five years with San Francisco. He was promoted to GM in 2008, then resigned following the 2009 season.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks claimed safety Kevin Ellison off waivers from San Diego, a day after the Chargers released him following his arrest on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

WADA to monitor Tour testing

MONTREAL — The World Anti-Doping Agency will monitor drug testing at next month’s Tour de France in an agreement with the International Cycling Union.

WADA representatives will be able to observe all phases of the UCI’s anti-doping controls, from the selection of riders to be tested to the handling of results. They will also have access to all related documents. The WADA observers will write a report on UCI’s anti-doping activities after the Tour, which runs July 3-25.

Team RadioShack confirmed Lance Armstrong will seek his eighth victory in the 87th edition of cycling’s premier event.

• Cyclist Kim Kirchen of Luxembourg has been taken out of a medically controlled coma, four days after a heart attack.

His team said that after Kirchen was removed from the coma, he immediately recognized his wife and father but had no memory of what happened to him. He will remain in the hospital as doctors try to find the cause of the heart attack.

• Olympic snowboarding champ Shaun White suffered a left ankle injury that will keep him from competing in the Skate Open ISF Skateboarding World Championships this weekend in Boston.

• Arizona senior wide receiver Delashaun Dean, who had 132 receptions for 1,407 yards and seven touchdowns in his first three years with the Wildcats, has been suspended indefinitely from the football team because of an undisclosed violation of team rules.

• Once touted as the best hope to end the U.S. drought in pairs skating, Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker announced they are splitting after four years together.

Mike Weir won $270,000 on the second day of the Telus Skins Game in Victoria, British Columbia.

• The candidates from France, Germany and South Korea all made the cut, as expected, when the International Olympic Committee announced the list of official bid cities for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Epiphanny Prince scored 19 points and the Chicago Sky ended a four-game WNBA losing streak with an 86-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun in Uncasville, Conn.

Rebekkah Brunson had 21 points 13 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Lynx to a 75-68 win over the Liberty in New York.
