A 27-year-old Denver-area man was rescued Friday from the Half Moon trail on Mount Holy Cross in Eagle County.
Authorities said a hiker called 911 about 8:30 a.m. to report a member of his group was in need of medical attention for high-altitude pulmonary edema, or fluid in the lungs.
Vail Mountain Rescue Group sent a search team in on foot, and the Colorado National Guard dropped other search teams at the top of Half Moon Pass. Once the man was found, a paramedic treated him, and at 2:40 p.m. he was airlifted by a National Guard helicopter. The Denver Post
