Brad Hawpe’s hustle turned out to be painful. The Rockies outfielder bruised his ribs in the first inning when he crashed into the wall down the right-field line. Hawpe was chasing down a Howie Kendrick foul ball that landed a few rows into the stands. Hawpe finished the inning but was replaced by Ryan Spilborghs in the second. Hawpe is listed as day to day.
Long time coming.
Chris Iannetta’s two-run fifth-inning home run was his first homer since he clubbed a 10th-inning, walkoff shot to beat the Mets on April 14 at Coors Field. It was his first home run on the road since Aug. 14, 2009, at Florida.
