Backup Tennessee Titans quarterback Chris Simms on Thursday pleaded not guilty to charges he was driving while impaired by drugs and operating a motor vehicle while impaired. The former Denver Bronco was arrested at 1:03 a.m. in lower Manhattan with his pregnant wife, Danielle, sitting next to him. The arresting officer said he “smelled a strong odor of marijuana” and observed Simms had watery and bloodshot eyes. The report said Simms admitted to the arresting officer, “I was smoking marijuana earlier.” Simms’ attorney denied the allegation of marijuana use and said his client only admitted smoking cigarettes.
