Concerts for Kids’ annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner keeps moving from steakhouse to steakhouse.
It started off five years ago at the Palm, moved over to Elway’s Cherry Creek — and now the madness will come down Aug. 28 at Shanahan’s, the new kid in town.
Over the years, bold names in Denver have dealt the plates in tutus and wigs, performed karaoke and stunts, acted like idiots — all to raise tip money for Concerts for Kids, which then sends it on to children’s charities. It’s headed up by Walter and Christie Isenberg.
The joints turn into madhouses for the night. Now it’s Shanahan’s turn. When I asked Shanahan’s GM/partner Marc Steron about the move, he told me, “I’m familiar with the event, and I think it’ll create some excitement.”
You got that right.
Acting goofy for the cause: Barry and Arlene Hirschfeld will host at the door — waiters include Brian Griese, Dr. Dean Prina, Dick Robinson, Jamie Van Leeuwen, Kirk Montgomery, Kurt Boucher, Mark McIntosh, Molly Hughes, Paul Powers, Rick Monkarsh, Terry Vitale. More celebs on the way, so stay tuned.
That’s a good idea.
